The Riverside Story
Riverside began in 2006 with one goal: to do the work right. Founder Doug Haarstad had spent years in the concrete industry and knew there was a better way, a way to blend skill, honesty, and a straight-talking approach with quality craftsmanship. So he built a team that shared those values.
For years, that meant patios, flatwork, and foundations for homes and businesses across the region. But somewhere along the way, the pools stood out. Project after project, we found ourselves drawn to the technical challenge and the payoff of building something families would use every single day. That focus sharpened into a specialty, and the specialty became who we are.
Today, as Riverside Pools & Restoration, we’ve narrowed our focus to what we do best: building new pools and hot tubs, and restoring aging ones back to life. The same values that built driveways for two decades now go into every pool we pour, real people who show up, solve problems, and care about the end result. No fluff, no runaround, just a team that does what we say we’re going to do.
That’s the Riverside way.
Hi, I’m Doug Haarstad. Proud Minnesotan, husband, dad to three amazing daughters, and the guy behind Riverside Concrete. I’ve always loved being outdoors, especially if there’s water nearby. That appreciation for nature, and building things that last, is part of what drew me to concrete work in the first place. It’s hands-on, it’s creative, and it’s different every day.
I got my start thanks to Greg and Jesse Gardner at Gardner Concrete. They were great mentors, and I soaked up everything I could. Since then, I’ve kept learning, testing new techniques, and growing with the industry. I still love the challenge of turning a rough idea into something solid and lasting. Every job we take on at Riverside is personal to me. This isn’t just a business. It’s a reflection of my values: work hard, do it right, and treat people the way you’d want to be treated.
